Perhaps one of the biggest misconceptions about Holistic or Healing modalities is that they are intended as a replacement for conventional Western medicine. I am in no way a proponent of abandoning Western medicine. The therapies, activities, education and explorations I offer are intended as integrative, incorporating new patterns, rather than elimination or replacement of current or effective therapies. Whether labeled Complementary, Integrative, Holistic, or Healing, these modalities can be highly effective in their intent.
Perhaps the most dangerous misconception about medicines used in Holistic Health therapies is that if they are natural they must be safe. In my practice, I use essential oils in aromatherapy and provide cannabis education. Make no mistake, these are medicines which require an understanding of proper
handling, dosage, and delivery. While these substances come from nature, that fact alone does not make them safe and certainly the highly concentrated forms we are able to obtain them in are not safe for certain uses.
